You Can't Pour From an Empty Nervous System

Jenna Snyder helps the helpers — therapists, teachers, nurses, pastors, and leaders — recognize the cost of caring for others and build a nervous system, and a workplace, that can actually sustain it.

About

A therapist's eye, a helper's heart.

Jenna Snyder, MA, LCMHC, LPC, is a trauma-informed therapist and the owner and clinical director of a telehealth counseling practice. She specializes in trauma, complex PTSD, and the secondary traumatic stress carried by the people who spend their working lives caring for others.

Her clinical approach draws on EMDR, psychodynamic work, and person-centered, motivational interviewing — but her real interest is bigger than the therapy room. Jenna writes and speaks about what it costs to be a helper, and what it takes to keep doing the work without losing yourself in it.

Licensure: LCMHC (North Carolina) · LPC (South Carolina)

You Can't Pour From an Empty Nervous System

A talk (and half-day workshop) on secondary traumatic stress in the workplace — for hospital systems, schools, ministries, and any team where showing up for other people is the job. Jenna translates the nervous system science into language a whole staff can use, and gives leaders a real framework for building a culture that doesn't quietly burn its best people out.

  • Recognizing secondary traumatic stress before it becomes burnout
  • The nervous system basics every helping team should know
  • What sustainable, trauma-informed leadership actually looks like
  • Practical capacity-building tools staff can use the same day

Available as a keynote, half-day workshop, or staff training series.

The Oversimplification
of Forgiveness
In Progress

Letting go isn't a feeling. It's a fight.

The Oversimplification of Forgiveness: Faith, Freedom, and the Fight to Actually Let Go pushes back on the tidy version of forgiveness we're handed — the one that treats it like a decision you make once and mean forever. Drawing on her clinical work, her faith, and her own story, including the loss of her father, Jenna makes the case that real forgiveness is messier, slower, and far more honest than "just let it go."
